Signs in Oxford, by Yvonne Caruthers

Yvonne Caruthers is a cellist in the NSO

Oxford, MS, our first stop on our way to our Residency in Arkansas.  Oxford is a picturesque town with an old courthouse and a town square around it. This time of year the weather is mild, so some of the shops don't even have glass in the windows.

Eating a late lunch are Marcia Farabee, our librarian, and second violinists Charlotte Paramore (partly obscured) and Anneliese Mast.

One of the shops sells T shirts, with Ole Miss slogans as their best-sellers.

Perhaps the most intriguing sign was this one, offering ice cream sandwiches as "big as your head". (they aren't really).

Outside the bank is a dog water fountain, and just as I turned on my camera a man walked up with his thirsty dog.

One of the big attractions in Oxford is novelist Wm. Faulkner's home, Rowan Oak.

Last night at the concert it was a pleasure to see John Palmer again. He is one of the NSO's National Trustees, and a resident of Jackson, MS. (photo of Mr. Palmer is from several years ago).
